Our school, IES Miguel de Cervantes, is a Secondary School in Granada, Spain. Our partner, Dowdales School, is a Secondary School in Dalton in Furness, Cumbria, in the UK. Next June, a group of students and two teachers from Granada will travel to the UK to visit our partners. The aim of this blog is to introduce ourselves, get to know our partners and write about our experience, so...Let's know each other better.

The Walkers Hostel
by Laura
On the edge of the Lake District The Walkers Hostel, a recently renovated Quarry Managers House has 30 beds in 6 rooms ranging from a double to a rooms with 8 beds. The very cosy large light living room contains a wood burner which creates a homely atmosphere in this lovely family market town. The hostel also contains male and female showers and toilets have been updated in 2007 A new toilet block has been put in on the 2nd floor in August 08. Ulveston is the start of the 70 mile Cumbria Way and guests are welcome to leave their cars free here whilst walking. Street markets take place on Thursday and Saturday and the large number of festivals has given Ulverston the name of the Festival Town. The lighthouse on Hoad Hill is adjacent to the hostel and creates just one of the many stunning walks to be taken from the hostel including the 1 mile walk to the sea via the canal. All the hostel staff are like minded backpackers and are happy to give advice on how to get the most from your visit.
